Traditional drive systems used for inertia load work typically perform rapid deceleration, braking, and positioning. The conventional approach to handling this regenerative energy is to install a brake resistor. While brake resistors are easy to install and cost-effective, they occupy substantial space and require additional devices to dissipate heat.
